By the Bridge are overjoyed to announce that one of our Foster Parents AND very own staff have been chosen as finalists for this year’s Foster Talk Awards.
Foster Parent, Lynn Harte was nominated for Foster Carer of the Year and goes up against three other finalists to scoop the award on 20th May.
Lynn, who has been fostering with By the Bridge for over 3 years, said: "I was gobsmacked to have been nominated. I was shopping at the time I received the call from Foster Talk, who initially said "Congratulations", and I asked why? They then proceeded to tell me I had been nominated for Foster Carer of the Year. I was told that I had been placed 4th out of 700+ foster carers. I feel excited to have been nominated and am looking forward to the virtual ceremony on Thursday."
By the Bridge Education Advisor, Patricia Heraty, was also nominated for the Fostering Supporter category.
Patricia, who was nominated by one of our By the Bridge Foster Families, Lynn and Peter Collins, said: "I was lucky to be asked to work with the Collins family as one of my families at the start of lockdown in March 2020. Whilst we could only meet over the phone and via Zoom meetings, it was clear to see their passion and dedication as foster parents.
It has been an absolute privilege and pleasure to work with such an inspirational family - who have worked and continue to work tirelessly for K to ensure he gets the best possible outcome in education. It was amazing to finally meet them in person in April of this year.
They are the winners in my eyes. The tenacity, dedication and commitment they show day in day out is very humbling. They are an asset to themselves, an asset to By the Bridge, and the light in their young peoples lives, which I know they are in theirs."
Once again, a huge congratulations goes out to both Lynn and Patricia and we wish them all the best for the virtual ceremony which takes place on Thursday 20 May 2021.
